When MSNBC’s Kristen Welker tried to get an answer out of Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, she witnessed for at least the second time in this campaign how adept the former secretary of state is at dodging questions. Welker asked if Clinton had any “takeaways” from a briefing on the Iranian nuclear agreement reached this week, to which the candidate replied:
It was uh, an excellent, uh, briefing. Thank you.
The recorded exchange showed Clinton continue to walk straight ahead with a wide grin affixed to her face as Welker continued to ask unanswered questions. Among them, she said, was an effort to gauge Clinton’s opinion of the controversial deal.
I asked her that question several times today. She wouldn’t answer that question.
Welker previously complained of Clinton’s campaign evasiveness after asking the candidate what she planned to do to appeal to a wider audience than she did in 2008. Clinton responded:
I’m having a great time. Can’t look forward, uh, any more than I am. Thank you.
