Public university campuses often serve as testing grounds for new, more restrictive speech codes reflecting the left’s increasing adherence to political correctness. Evidence of this trend recently surfaced via the syllabi released by multiple Washington State University professors.
In one Women and Popular Culture course, for instance, a female professor threatened to fail students who used “oppressive and hateful” words such as “females or males” to describe individuals.
She was far from alone in her activism, however. Another teacher similarly banned phrases including “illegal alien” while another mandated that his students “understand and consider the rage” of minorities.
