After an Arby’s manager in Florida reportedly laughed at a uniformed cop’s request and sided with an employee who refused to serve her, Pembroke Pines Police Sgt. Jennifer Martin’s experience began to spread nationally.
The corporation responded with an attempted apology that touted its “policy of inclusion” while omitting any promise to fire the employees involved.
According to Dade County Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera, the response was deficient:
It is beyond comprehension and deeply troubling that a business would deny service to a law enforcement officer just for being a law enforcement officer.
He went on to say that the incident “warrants much more than an apology,” calling for a national boycott of the chain until “corrective action” – including the termination of those responsible – is taken.
