After facing backlash from some anti-Israel activists — including rock legend Roger Waters — for his support of the Jewish nation, talk radio icon Howard Stern responded with characteristic fervor.
Specifically, he encouraged like-minded listeners to be more open in their defense of America’s closest Middle Eastern ally.
Don’t stand silently by when others will sit there and condemn and throw out words like apartheid and all that bulls–t. Fight the power, you hear me?
He called it “odd” that prominent Americans would be so reticent to share their views on this subject.
Stern went on to explain why he feels Israel deserves — and needs — U.S. support:
I am a supporter of Israel. I am a fan of Israel. I believe Israel is a necessity. It’s a place where people have hope because they had nowhere else to go.
