Houston-area police confirmed reports of a recent encounter between a local man and two would-be armed robbers Friday morning.
Reports indicate the pair’s unidentified target was not interested in being a target and instead pulled out his own handgun and began firing. The two suspects reportedly turned to run away but managed to span just a few yards before collapsing on the ground.
One suspect died from his injuries and the other was transported to a local hospital in unspecified condition.
According to one nearby resident awakened by the sound of gun shots, the incident sounds like a clear case of self-defense in an otherwise “quiet neighborhood.” Marcel Smith added:
The shots sounded like they were fired by somebody who knew what they were doing — very distinct and deliberate.
Smith concluded that the two suspects “came across the wrong person.”
As of the latest reports available, authorities had not yet confirmed whether charges will be pursued against the shooter.
