‘Nonsensical’: Professor rails against use of traditional gender identity

Among the latest efforts to convince the vast majority to adapt to the whims of an infinitesimal, if exceedingly vocal, minority was a presentation by Temple University associate politics professor Heath Fogg Davis.

Hosting a recent discussion at the University of Virginia, Davis maintained that requiring individuals to identify as male or female is a “nonsensical” and antiquated practice in need of reform.

The university-sponsored presentation included the visiting professor’s view that including such sex markers on documents is “heterosexist” and his celebration that the longstanding policy is being reconsidered in many parts of the country.

While acknowledging these “sex-marked identity documents” can be effective in deterring fraud, Davis nonetheless denounced the practice — potentially even in the issuance of birth certificates.
