A gun show held recently at a Spooner, Wis., high school was disrupted when protesters showed up to voice their opposition.
The event, which attracted hundreds of attendees this Saturday, has been held in the community for decades.
“No one’s ever been hurt,” local resident Kevin Brabec said. “We’ve never had a gun go off accidentally and we’ve donated thousands of dollars to the high school.”
Nevertheless, protesters like Sherrie Wiegand were incensed that a gun show would be held at a public school, regardless of the circumstances.
Not only does she believe it is “not safe,” she added that it is “hypocritical for vulnerable adolescent students who see that they can’t come even in the parking lot with an unloaded cased gun during hunting season, because it’s a gun-free zone.”
