When some supporters of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton saw a local business sign in support of her opponent, they saw it as a call to action.
The message that caused such an uproar belonged to Barnacle Bill’s Seafood, and read as follows:
CONCEALED CARRY OK
Outraged over the public political speech, protesters announced online their intention to demonstrate near the restaurant’s sign.
Meanwhile, supporters of the business owner’s message were organizing their own counter-protest, which reports say attracted at least five times more interest than the initial demonstration.
Less than 20 Clinton supporters were seen by one news crew at the scene. At the same time, more than 100 demonstrators were visible in the Trump camp.
“Nobody knew about it,” complained David Coyle, one of the few present holding a Clinton sign.
