Actor Chris Pratt has seen his celebrity status soar in the years since he was introduced to many Americans on the NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”
He has since become a bankable leading man with notable performances in movies including “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World.”
As a struggling young adult living out a van in Hawaii, Pratt said his road to stardom got its real start. It was also there, he revealed in a recent Vanity Fair interview, that he was introduced to Jesus through an unlikely encounter.
“I was sitting outside a grocery store,” he recalled, explaining a friend was inside buying him some alcohol.
While he waited, he said “a guy named Henry” approached him and began asking him about his debaucherous plans for the night.
“I said, ‘Why are you asking?’ He said, ‘Jesus told me to talk to you,'” Pratt said.
Instead of being alarmed by the stranger’s behavior like he might have been otherwise, he said he was instead drawn to the 40-something Asian man.
“He took me to church,” Pratt said. “Over the next few days I surprised my friends by declaring that I was going to change my life.”
