Though bitter rivals throughout election season, both Sen. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump ran for president as outsiders who exceeded the expectations of most pundits.
As President-elect Trump prepares to be inaugurated as the 45th president, Sanders shared some praise for the New York billionaire during a recent panel discussion at D.C.’s George Washington University.
The Vermont Independent went on to “give Donald Trump his due” for taking on the establishment of both parties as well as the media on his way to an Election Day victory.
“And that is an extraordinary accomplishment,” Sanders said. “And it talks about perseverance, it talks about very strong political instincts, it talks about a way to connect with people.”
