In a recent Politico article spotlighting the moderate West Virginia Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin shared one characteristic of the Trump administration he has already come to appreciate.
“I’ve had more personal time with Trump in two months than I had with Obama in eight years,” he said.
Manchin later mused he could give the president a call “and he’ll probably pick up,” going on to recall a series of calls from Trump dating back several months.
“Just called me out of the clear blue sky,” the senator said. “And he says, ‘I know you’re a centrist Democrat and you don’t look at party lines, and you want to work across the aisle and get something done. And I want to work with you.'”
