In an apparent departure from his pro-life record, Sen. Dean Heller told a largely hostile crowd at a town hall even this week that he supports federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
The Nevada Republican, who has spoken out and voted against forcing states to fund the nation’s leading abortion provider, faced several vocal activists questioning his stance.
In response to one attendee’s question, Heller promised to “protect” Planned Parenthood.
“I have no problem with federal funding for Planned Parenthood,” he said.
Heller’s office has since issued a statement distancing the senator from his recent statements.
