Police in Framingham, Massachusetts, say a local homeless woman picked an inopportune time to load up a cart with more than $1,000 in merchandise and walk toward the exit.

There happened to be more than 50 city police officers in the Target store Tuesday evening for an annual event known as “Shop with a Cop.”

Officers joined area children for a shopping excursion, and they say 32-year-old Melissa E. Allen walked past them with the she intended to steal.

She further compounded the situation, according to the Boston Globe, by claiming she did not intend to steal anything and identifying herself using the wrong name.
