One Texas law enforcement agency reported an escaped federal inmate was caught as he tried to sneak back into prison with a duffel bag packed with the comforts of home — the home of a nearby rancher, to be precise.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that the agency worked with federal authorities in response to a tip that inmates had been escaping from the federal prison complex and smuggling contraband back into the facility.

A short time after setting up surveillance around the prison, deputies reportedly saw 25-year-old Joshua Hansen escape from the prison grounds and pick up the bag located a short distance away. He was detained as he was running back toward the facility.

According to a sheriff’s office statement, the duffel bag contained multiple bottles of liquor, an array of tobacco products, various snacks and “a large amount” of home-cooked food.
